Description
vintage MECHANICAL BEAR Plays cymbals This gray bear appears to be made of wool plush. It has a flannel nose and inner ears. The arms and the legs, under the coat are metal rods. The bear is hunched. Picking it up and turning the metal key at its stomach makes the bear play the cymbals – about 6 claps with them after a half turn or so. Inside one cymbal is marked JAPAN. The mechanical toy measures 3-1/4” x 5-1/2” (hunched), x 4-1/2”. It is in good condition. Sometimes the wind-up key needs prodding. The age wear is that the stitching at seams is seen, perhaps pulled but intact - except at the left wrist area where the stitching is coming out somewhat. Probably from the 1950's ~ Thanks for looking!
